In a scenario that is unusual to say the least, BC will play in a mini-playoff Monday evening at Long Co. high school. Two of the three teams competing will advance to the state playoffs as the 3 and 4 seed from Region 2.
Format:
The three teams will flip coins to determine who Team A, Team B, and Team C are for the playoff. Team A will play Team B in the first game. Games will consist of two 5-minute halves. If the game is tied at the end of the 10 minute regulation time, regular GHSA overtime rules will be used. The winner of the first match up will advance to the state playoffs.
The loser of the first game would then play Team C in the second game. The winner of that contest would also advance to the state playoffs. The two teams that advance would then use their head-to-head regular season result to determine the seeding.
BC beat Bacon, Bacon beat Toombs, and Toombs beat BC.
- It will be extremely difficult for BC to play well Monday night. The Cadets played an extremely physical game Friday night that came down to the last play. Toombs and Bacon both had comfortable victories. BC was the only team that controlled its destiny while Toombs had to have BC lose to get to the mini-playoff. BC's season goal was to host a state playoff game. Having most likely lost that opportunity on Friday, the Cadets will struggle to match the energy level of Toombs and Bacon .
If BC does end up as the odd man out, the season in which the Cadets were ranked for the first time in 15 years, will most likely be considered a disappointment. The 3 seed will advance to face Laney, while the 4 seed will face Screven Co.
