(3) BC (7-3) @ (2) Laney (7-3)

BC will be looking for their first state playoff win since 1996.  Laney is similar to a Savannah public school team with the main difference being they win a lot.  The Augusta school is a perennial state playoff participant with ten appearances in the last eleven years, including two trips to the semifinals.  Recent standouts include Kendrell Bell and Corvey Irvin.

Laney has lost three games.  Two of those losses coming to ranked teams and the other to Westminster.  The Wildcats like to run the ball out of the spread and will throw when needed.  They will showcase the best group of athletes the Cadets have seen all year.  Defensively, they are obviously fast and athletic.

The Cadets have lost three games by a combined 14 points.  In all three of those contests the offensive line struggled and on top of that, BC will be missing two starters in that group.  Laney isn't as big as MCA or Vidalia on the defensive front but is much quicker.  BC threw it about 90% of the time against MCA and in the mini-playoff and though I expect to see more of the same Friday night, at some point the Cadets will have to run the ball with success.

The defense has been very good for most of the year but as with MCA, our defense just doesn't match up well with Laney.  The Wildcats force you to make plays in space and no Cadet team in over a decade has consistently been able to make those plays.  Big plays were a problem last week and the same could happen in Augusta.

As just stated, BC doesn't match up real well with Laney.  Screven Co. is the 1 seed in region 3 but play more of a smash mouth, run right at you style, that BC tends to fair better against.  Having said that, this is the best chance BC has had of winning a playoff game since 2000. It's not likely but its not that crazy either.
