Atkinson Co. (0-4, 0-3) @ BC (3-1, 2-1)
Atco is a bad football team. Picked to finish last in the region they are well on their way. BC will have to cope with losing a starting offensive lineman who has been kicked out, and an offensive weapon who will be missing at least a couple of weeks after hand surgery. Still, BC will win by a lot and after hopefully taking care of Bryan Co. next week, a big showdown with Bacon Co. looms.

BC (3-0) @ #4 Vidalia (3-0)
The first ever meeting between the two schools is as big as it gets this time of year. Win or lose however, this is not the end all. Bacon Co., Toombs, and MCA are capable of beating either team and are all legitimate contenders for a playoff spot. The importance of this game can not be overstated though, as it gives the winning team some wiggle room the rest of the way and the head-to-head tiebreaker.
Vidalia was the unanimous pre-season selection to win the region. They are one of the best programs in that area of the state having won 21 region titles, sporting 78 all-state players, and 2 NFLers. The Reservation is one of the best home field advantages as well.
The 2012 squad returns a majority of thier starters including Nic McBride, who is coming back from an injury after missing the last 2 games. McBride, a linebacker who has played some QB, was a WTOC Super 11 selection and is a leading canidate for region player of the year. He has offers from the likes of Southern Miss and Houston and will be a huge obstacle for BC's running attack.

Offensively, the Indians are as balanced as anyone BC has seen in a long time. They have been pleasantly surprised by QB D.J. Mincey who is a dual threat guy that traditionally gives BC problems. He has thrown for 291 yards and 4 touchdowns while running for 114 yards and 3 scores. His ability to improvise appears to match that of a good Savannah puplic school QB. The problem is that he has a solid offensive line, running back, and coaching staff to go along with it.
In my opinion, BC has the talent and ability to win this game. Vidalia does match up well in that they throw a lot at you offensively and the front 7 on defense is very good. For BC to pull the upset, the passing game will have to be efficient, the Cadets have to win the turnover battle, and special teams needs to be a whole lot better than it has been. In a close game, Vidalia has a gigantic advantage with the kicking game. Both teams have worn down opponents with depth in the 2nd half so that won't be a factor Friday. BC will find out how good they are this week and whether or not they are fighting for a region title or just a spot in the playoffs.

Metter (0-2) @ BC (2-0)
BC has started the season 2-0 for the first time since 2009 and has a great chance to get to 3-0. The Metter Tigers come to SSU having lost their first two games to quality opponents. They lost to ECI in the 1st annual Erk Russel Classic and lost by 3 to Bacon Co. last week. Bacon is picked by many to earn one of the top 4 spots in region 2-AA.
Metter is primarily a shotgun, spread offense that likes to throw. In the past, Cadet teams have struggled significantly with similar offenses. The Tiger defense has struggled much of the time but put together a great 2nd half last week.
BC should find success running the ball on the offensive side. Defensively, there might be some offensive skill guys seeing more time on defense in an effort to stifle the spread attack.
Metter is a better team than Long and almost pulled the upset against a good Bacon team at home. However, if the Cadets play like they have in the first two weeks they should get to 3-0 and set up one of the biggest games in the state next week at #7 Vidalia.

Long (1-0) @ BC (1-0)
First region game for both teams and first BC game at the newly refurbished T.A. Wright Stadium. Long has traditionally been one of the worst football programs in Georgia. The school did not even field a team from 1991-2001. BC leads the all-time series 2-0 with one of the two meetings being a near record setter. In 2008, BC defeated Long 63-50. Total yards, combined points, and passing yards by a QB (Jake Durham), are all in the top 10 in state history for a single game.
In 2012, Long has a new found confidece in most part due to recent success on the middle school level. Along with that, the Blue Tide cruised to a 30-6 win over Lanier Co. last week. Most prognostications had Long finising between 8-10 in the region. Following the first week, the opinion on Long has changed just a bit and what was once thought to be an easy win for a majority of the region now might be otherwise. They have never struggled finding athletes and have 3 guys on offense with breakaway ability. The two best players on defense might be their ends and could cause BC problems with their perimeter running game.
BC should win this game but it is definitely not the gimmie that it was two weeks ago.
