Reardon's Town

5 for GA-FLA:

- A Georgia win makes for a successful season. The season can be saved tomorrow with a win no matter what has or will happen. Georgia has only beaten the #1 team in the country once in program history, which was Florida. It would put the Dawgs back in the national spotlight for a good reason. The other 3 spotlights have shown a loss at OSU, poor officiating, and Lane Kiffin. A win would also leave Tebow at 1-2.

- Georgia is playing for a Peach Bowl. Mathematically a win would keep Georgia in the SEC East chase. A win coupled with a Florida loss to Carolina would open the door. However, the odds on that are probably at 50-1. So that leaves us aiming for a Peach Bowl. That doesn't sound good when those are the aspirations while in October. But it is one of the most watched bowl games and is played in a great atmosphere against a normally formidable opponent. It also offers some the opportunity to go to Jocks&Jill's if they are still open. Any bowl below Atlanta is irrelevant and really boring. From a program stand point, you do not want to be playing Houston in Memphis.

- CMR has to regain his swagger. The coach has come under fire basically because of being #1 in '08 with a trip to Orlando and an underachieving Defense for the better part of 3 seasons. Call it complacency or whatever you want but the coach has to grab the program and put it back where he took it. A win over Florida in a down year would bring back a lot of credibility real quick. The image of the program needs a jolt that reminds people that it is still capable of being among the elite.

- Jeff Owens, Geno Atkins, Kade Weston. 3 guys that have had very good careers at Georgia all playing in their last cocktail party. A lot of the blame has been put on CWM, DE's, and B. Evans, all rightfully so. However, the 3 DT's were expected to not only be good but dominant. Picked by most to be the strongest combination of DT's in the country, they have been average at best and have not been able to find any consistency. Tebow does his damage right up the gut. I could care less if TT breaks the TD record. But if he is shut down up the middle for a good portion of this game, it gives Georgia a lot better chance of competing. Owens and company need to give us something to remember them for in their final season besides their twitter accounts.

- If nothing else, its a chance to beat Florida when no one expects us to. They are #1, 17 game winning streak, won 16 out of 19, and have the most beloved figure in the game. 2009 has been the worst year in the Richt era but that title will revert back to '01 with a win. Throw it to A.J. Green 15-20 times and see what happens. If we lose it will still be really fun though.
