Tattnall County is a program on the rise under third-year coach Jeff Kaiser. Kaiser switched from a Wing-T to a spread last year. A key reason why the team was able to reach the state playoffs was the ability of QB Quaysean Davis in the spread. Davis, a dual threat QB, was 1st team all-region in '08 and was selected the pre-season Region 2-AA player of the year. He threw for almost 1,000 yards and ran for over 800 in '08. However, a lingering injury has him questionable for Friday. The rest of the offense has 8 starters back from last year, a number of which reached the State track meet last spring. The top loss was Brandon Harton (1,200-yard rusher). The heir is Shayon Guest, a junior who started as a freshman in 2007 but was injured much of 2008. On defense, first-team all-region LB Dwight Stoutamire is tough. The secondary is a strength.
The Warriors got off to a promising start to the season which included a 34-8 win over Sav. Country Day, 52-0 over Jeff Davis, and 50-0 over Long. However, Tattnall has lost to MCA and Charlton in a year where they had aspirations of competing for the region title. The match up against Benedictine carries huge playoff implications for both teams.
