2012 BC Football

BC's move to AA and SSU will be significant changes for both the program and school.  Dropping down in classification will present a tougher schedule week in and week out as well as a significantly higher travel budget.  The opinions on playing at SSU have been split.  The players and coaching staff are thrilled to be playing at T.A. Wright.  I like Memorial Stadium because of the convenience, comfort, and general familiarity from start to finish.  The stadium itself is a dump.  SSU is about as nice as it gets field wise and facility wise.  The main reason SSU works for me is it allows BC to avoid any Saturday games.

Team wise BC should be as good as any squad since 2001. The two QB's are inexperienced but capable and can both throw and run.  The offensive backfield goes about 6 deep with 4 of those guys being pretty damn explosive.  Offensive Line is and will be a question mark.  Only 2 starters return and they will be juniors.  There are a couple of really good canidates at tight end and the receiver position is young but could be very good.

Defensively, the Cadets should be really good.  The D-line aveages 250 and are pretty athletic as a group. 3 of the 4 projected starters will be seniors. The linebacking corpse has the team's top 2 returning tacklers and along with the running backs has the most depth of any position on the team.  The secondary took a significant hit in losing a starter to a broken leg last week.  They are extremely athletic as a group but inexperiece will be a huge problem early on.

Special teams will be replacing both kicker and punter and both areas will be as big of a question mark as those two spots have seen in over 2 decades.  The return game should be great.

Overall, I see this team anywhere from 1-4 in the region with 2 or 3 most realistic. Vidalia is the clear favorite to win the region and most people have MCA penciled in at #2.  BC has both those guys on the road.  Bacon Co. and Metter appear to be the other 2 contenders and they come to Savannah.  Its a huge year for a program that really needs success. The question marks are legitimate but there are so many strengths that I feel this team should be aiming for the school's first home playoff game in 12 years.
